06/07/07: Video Of The Day: Guitar Hero III on Xbox360 – First Vids

From IGN Insider, here’s a Youtube uploaded video of their Guitar Hero III Preview. As many of you GH fans know, both RedOctane and Harmonix (publisher & developer) of the GH franchise were bought out by different companies; RedOctane was bought by Activision while Harmonix was purchased by MTV Networks.

As a result these events stopped the relationship between Harmonix & RedOctane. Harmonix will no longer develop future games for the Guitar Hero series.

Instead, development now goes to Neversoft, a division of Activision known for developing the Tony Hawk skateboarding series.

And thus, here goes Neversoft’s first try in carrying the Guitar Hero series, with GH III.

06/06/07: Video Of The Day: The Evolution of CG in Games

A cool take on the evolution of video games computer graphics. As posted by allgames.com, the user on youtube goes to state: “This was produced in January 2006 for game developer DAVID PERRY. It had to be two minutes and thirty seconds long, for an audience of non-gamers, and was to show what games might look like 5 years from now.”

Not too revolutionary, but enough to keep us reminded of where we were, to where we are now.

06/05/07: Video Of The Day:Optimus Prime (RE) Lives!

Any true 80s kid recognizes the Transformers as the big robot movement of those years; imo even more so than Robotech, Voltron or (eck!) Gobots, Transformers was the series that got kids excited about big robots.

Now in 2007, Optimus and the gang are getting back together via Michael Bay, and (of course) the movie game translation provided by Activision. Here’s hoping the game turns out at least half way decent.

At least they got Peter Cullen back as Optimus! Check out the vid below:

06/04/07: Video Of The Day: Real-life Punchout

Ah, those wacky Japanese gamers. As usual, they take things to new heights. (or lows?) In this case, they just know how to make us laugh…. while this has been out for awhile now, its always great to look up stuff.

06/03/07: Video Of The Day: Gamefly Commercial

Looks like Gamefly has been doing its homework on buzz geico-like videos. The latest commercial speaks gamer just in the fact that the guy throws a fireball like SF2.

I’m sure if they keep up great commercials like these, they’ll catch on to all the casual consumers along with the core & casual gamers they’re reaching for.
